Call for WCA Board Nominations

Would you like to be more involved with WCA? Do you know a counselor who would excel on the board?  If so, consider nominating yourself or another WCA member for a position on the WCA Executive Board!

 

Nominations are due by March 10, 2026.  Please email all nominations to us at wisconsincounseling@gmail.com. In the nomination email please give us your background information, goals for the position, and your strengths as they relate to the position. Approved candidates will be contacted to discuss positions.  Please note all positions are expected to attend board meetings.

 

Please note, all board members are required to be current WCA members when nominated and during their time on the WCA Board. President-Elect and Professional Development & Ethics Chair positions are required to also be current members of ACA when nominated for the position and during their time on the WCA Board.

 

Open positions include:

  • President-Elect
  • Professional Development & Ethics
  • Treasurer

President-Elect

*Serves a three-year term as President-Elect, President and Past President.

(a)     The President-Elect shall be an official representative of the Association whenever the President cannot be present.

(b)     The President-Elect shall be an ex-officio member without vote on all committees.

(c)     The President-Elect, before taking office as President, can appoint  a Secretary and the Treasurer.

 

Professional Development & Ethics Chair

(a) The Professional Development & Ethics Chair shall coordinate the WCA Board's professional development activities and shall offer to coordinate and/or assist for any Chapters or Divisions that may develop.

(b) There is no fee for the CE credits at the Annual Conference and at Division and Chapter activities co-sponsored by the WCA Board for members of WCA. The Professional Development &Ethics Chair keeps the WCA members’ data bank on earned CEs.

(c) The Professional Development & Ethics Chair shall submit to the Board and coordinate co-sponsorship of professional development activities with other non-profit organizations outside of the WCA community.

(d) The Professional Development & Ethics Chair shall establish and maintain policies and procedures in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the National Board for Certified Counselors, the Wisconsin State Board of Education or other relevant CE granting bodies.

(e) The Professional Development & Ethics Chair shall be responsible for educating the membership concerning the Ethical Standards of ACA and its Divisions and monitoring and periodically upgrading the documents and procedures pertinent to the Ethical Standards.

(f) The Professional Development & Ethics Chair shall work with the Technology Chair regarding web content on the WCA website on matters of quarterly information, cases, updated Ethics from ACA, etc. for our members.

(g) The Professional Development & Ethics Chair shall monitor and periodically upgrade/update WCA documents, bylaws, job descriptions, procedures etc. pertinent to the Ethical Standards.

(h) The Professional Development & Ethics Chair shall support WCA members in need of ethical support by providing available resources and updating the board of all issues actions taken by the Professional Development & Ethics Chair.

(i) The WCA Professional Development Chair shall coordinate with the Conference Chair in order to examine the list of professionals to receive CE's for attending the Conference.

 

Treasurer

(a) The Treasurer shall verify records of each transaction.

(b) The Treasurer shall verify the reconciliation of the checking account monthly.

(c) The Treasurer shall review an itemized written statement of the financial status of the Association for each meeting of the WCA Board.

(d) The Treasurer shall act as Chairperson of the Financial Affairs Committee when there is an active need to form a committee.

(e) The fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. The Treasurer shall submit a final, audited report at the WCA Board/Transition meeting when the fiscal year is completed. The records will be archived with the Past President and association records (transferred to a new Treasurer every third year or when necessary).

(f) All payments shall be signed either by the Treasurer or the President after receipt of a voucher with the appropriate receipts attached to the voucher. Neither the President nor the Treasurer may sign a voucher or a check made out to themselves.

(g) The WCA Treasurer is the treasurer for the annual WCA Conference and any events that are sponsored by the WCA.
