John C. Nance is an Associate Clinical Professor and Director of Clinical Field Placements in Counselor Education & Supervision at University of North Carolina at Charlotte. A Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor–Supervisor (LCMHC-S), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), John brings more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice, supervision, and counselor education. John maintains an active private practice focused on trauma-informed care, dissociative disorders, and counselor development.
His professional career reflects a deep commitment to integrating clinical excellence, supervision, and organizational leadership to strengthen the counseling profession. A long-standing leader within the American Counseling Association (ACA), John is currently President-Elect for the 2026-2027 year. John previously served on the ACA Governing Council as the Association for Adult Development and Aging (AADA) Representative and as liaison to the ACA Human Rights Committee, which he previously chaired. His leadership spans multiple levels of the profession, including service as AADA Chair, ACA Southern Region Chair, and President of both the North Carolina Counseling Association and the South Carolina Counseling Association.
