WCA Annual Awards


Each year at the Annual Conference, WCA presents several awards to recognize outstanding professionals and students. Information about nominations, timelines, and awards can be found below. 

The Wisconsin Counseling Association awards professional counselors and a variety of other key professionals and programs each year at our annual conference.  

Please nominate an individual or a program you feel is deserving of one of the following professional recognition awards. Individuals should be active members of the Wisconsin Counseling Association. At least one faculty from a program should be a current WCA member.

To submit a nomination, click on the link below for the respective award to complete the form. You will also need a 1-page letter of nomination providing a rationale for why this person or program is deserving of the award. Also, include an additional 1-page letter supporting the nomination. Submit no more than three (3) additional pages of supporting documentation specific to the award criteria. Please be sure the information supports your nominee’s eligibility for the award.   

You will need both a letter of nomination and a supporting letter in order to submit the forms.

Deadline: Nominations must be submitted by Friday, September 12, 2025.

Individual Awards



David Van Doren Leadership and Service Award – To recognize a counseling professional who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service for the State of Wisconsin and/or region.

Legislative Advocacy Award – To recognize a member of the legislature or a counseling professional who has made significant contributions to the counseling profession through legislative advocacy efforts.

Outstanding Counselor Educator Award – To recognize a person who, through leadership, activities, education, and student mentorship, has made contributions to the continued training of competent and ethical professional counselors.

Outstanding Supervisor Award – To recognize an individual who has provided outstanding supervision to graduate students or provisionally licensed professional counselors (nominations would include support of graduate students or LPC-ITs).

Outstanding Counseling Graduate Student Award – To recognize a graduate student enrolled in a Wisconsin Counseling program who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, and advocacy throughout their training and professional sequence.

Program Award




Outstanding Counselor Education Program Award – To recognize a counselor education program that makes consistent contributions to the field of counseling through their professional advocacy, leadership, and service to the profession, the community, and/or the Wisconsin Counseling Association.
